Chinese billionaire and founder of Alibaba and Ant co-founder Jack Ma, on Wednesday resurfaced in a video after being missing for months. Ma, in the video is seen addressing an audience participating in Rural Teachers Award ceremony, an annual event held by the Jack Ma foundation since 2015.
“We will meet again after the pandemic is over. Recently, my colleagues and I have been studying and thinking. We made a stronger resolution to devote ourselves to education philanthropy” he said. Ma disappeared from public view since November last year, after China started investigating his online finance titan Ant Group and Alibaba Group.
The government crackdown was launched on November 2 and the Chinese regulators scuppered Ant’s $35 billion dollor IPO and further initiated an antitrust probe into Alibaba.
